Rooftop solar installations on Prologis logistics buildings in Belgium will supply renewable electricity to Fastned’s fast-charging network under a new 15-year corporate power purchase agreement (cPPA) between the two companies.
The long-term contract marks Fastned’s first cPPA in Belgium and its first cPPA outside the Netherlands, supporting the continued expansion of its fast-charging network and its ambition to power it with 100% renewable electricity sourced as locally as possible.
Under the agreement, Fastned will purchase 90% of the electricity generated by rooftop solar installations on three Prologis logistics buildings – Boom DC2 in the Antwerp region and Tongeren DC1 and DC3 in Limburg. The remaining 10% will be allocated to customers leasing space in those buildings.
Over its 15-year term, Fastned estimates that the renewable electricity supplied under the agreement will enable the equivalent of approximately 500 million sustainable kilometres — broadly corresponding to several million fast-charging sessions across its Belgian network.
“Partnering with Prologis enables us to secure long-term renewable energy with price stability while accelerating the rollout of fast-charging infrastructure in Belgium,” said Roland van der Put, Lead Energy Sourcing & Grid Management at Fastned. “Linking rooftop solar directly to our charging network supports the growth of electric mobility, and as we expand in Belgium, we intend to pursue additional projects.”
The solar installations, with a combined capacity of approximately 8.1 MWp, will be developed and owned by Prologis. Construction is already underway, grid connections have been secured and the systems are expected to be completed and brought online in the second half of 2026.
Across Europe, Prologis has been expanding rooftop solar generation throughout its logistics portfolio, enabling renewable electricity to support both on-site demand and wider energy needs. The Belgian agreement demonstrates how rooftop solar can extend beyond individual buildings to directly support electric mobility infrastructure at scale.
“This agreement shows how renewable energy generated across our logistics portfolio can support the wider energy transition, while continuing to deliver direct benefits at the building level,” said Melchert Duijve, Energy Director Europe, Prologis. “By combining large-scale rooftop solar with long-term offtake agreements, we are expanding the role our assets can play in supporting clean mobility and more resilient energy systems.”
Scholt Energy will act as the designated energy supplier under the agreement, managing the offtake from the solar installations and overseeing the operational delivery of the contracted renewable electricity to Fastned.
Matthias Pletinckx, Country Director Fastned, said: “As Fastned Belgium, we want to lead on smart, innovative solutions. By turning logistics rooftops into clean power for our stations, we strengthen our Belgian network with local renewable energy and make fast charging even more sustainable for our customers.”
