Boom, 01 February 2024 - Prologis, a worldwide logistics real estate developer, will lease 25,000 sqm long term of the new building complex in Boom to logistics provider Fiege. With Boom DC2, Prologis has created an all electric facility that contributes positively to a sustainable logistics chain in Belgium. Once the site is completed in April 2024, Fiege will move operations from a German site to Boom.

We are very pleased to have entered a strong partnership with Prologis, who understand the challenges within our business. From this new operational base, we offer a strategic location in the heart of Europe that caters to the increasing customer demand for sustainable infrastructure,” says Koen Verschoren, operations director Belgium at Fiege.

This new announcement confirms Prologis’ reputation as trusted provider for futureproof logistics solutions. The company's portfolio includes more than 5,500 buildings in 19 countries.

"We are excited to provide Fiege with our services in Belgium. Half of the building has now been leased, the remaining 25,000 SQM are still available. The fact that we have already leased this significant part of the site before its completion, shows the growing demand for expert logistics real estate in this region", says Gina Helmold, Vice President, and Head of Leasing and Capital Deployment at Prologis.

Prologis was advised by Oreon Properties, Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE and Loyens & Loeff.

Benchmark in terms of sustainability
Boom DC2 is a prime example of sustainable building construction. More than 4,000 solar panels with a total output of 1.7 megawatts, combined with heat pumps, energy-efficient LED lighting and insulating windows with triple glazing, make the building entirely energy positive. More energy is generated and fed into the grid than is consumed. Prologis therefore aims to achieve a BREEAM certification upon completion of the project. [1] Prologis' Boom DC2 is additionally being planned with respect for local wildlife, flora and local residents.
